A Little History About Ms. Dana White

I grew up in Yankton, SD and graduated from Yankton High School in 1994, after which, I worked full time for a couple of years. During that time, I had my one and only child, Eva, which inspired me to pursue an education degree. I attended Mount Marty College and graduated in 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary and Special Education.

During college, I had the opportunity to work as an Educational Assistant in the special education department at Yankton High School for 2 years. It was through this experience that I truly realized my passion for teaching and discovered, to my surprise, that I really enjoy working with teens--this discovery has directed my career path since!

After graduating from college in 2002, I worked as the special education teacher in grades 7 - 12 for Wakonda School District. I enjoyed the community, parents, and students in Wakonda, but wanted to be closer to my family in Sioux Falls, and so in 2007, I accepted a position as special education teacher with Baltic School District and moved to Sioux Falls that summer. I have lived in Sioux Falls and taught at BHS since then.
